School Dinners & Menus
Homemade dishes account for 75% of our menu - freshly prepared and cooked by our on site catering team.
We promote healthy eating and lead by example here within Rode Heath Primary School (and the extended services too), where we provide healthy, nutritious and balanced food and drinks that are safely prepared with regard to the dietary and religious requirements of the children in our care. You can download a copy of our our Healthy Eating Policy from here.
Our school dinner menu (below) alternates each week, with a meat or fish and then a vegetarian option available each day together with:
- jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings;
- a selection of vegetables and / or salad bar;
- bread basket;
- seasonal fruit platter;
- a selection of drinks.
Fresh meat is supplied by local butchers and is "farm" assured, while pork, turkey and chicken is "red tractor" certified. We also use Marine Stewardship Council fish (the standard for sustainable fishing) and free range eggs. Potatoes, vegetables and fruit are sourced locally when in season too.
Paying for School Dinners and our Online Payments System
From September 2014, all pupils in reception, year 1 and year 2 (Key Stage 1) are entitled to a universal free school meal. Existing entitlements to free school meals for eligible pupils in years 3 through to 6 (Key Stage 2) are unchanged, based on the existing free school meals eligibility criteria* for those pupils.
Meals cost £3.40 per day. and can be paid for in our online payments system.
Creating an account is simple. To get started you can either call into or email the school office to be allocated with your unique Online Link Code(s) for your child/ren. After that there's just a few simple steps (or "clicks") before you're up and running.
When you have recieved your unique code you can access your acccount via this link Online payments
Free School Meals
Even though all child/ren in Key Stage 1 are entited to "universal free school meals", it is absolutely vital that parents still register for free school meals if they are eligible to do so.
The school receives additional ("pupil premium") funding for every child registered for free school meals. This funding helps to provide additional classroom resources and academic support, and makes a valuable contribution towards the cost of trips, residential visits and other extra-curricular activities.
