LEARNING ABOUT SOLAR ENERGY by Ryan and Oliver (Year 6)

Date: 15th Dec 2014 @ 5:35pm

One of our topics this term has been Solar Energy. It's an interesting topic to learn about, but not only that, it is really important because it helps us a lot and doesn’t cost as much as fossil fuels.

We learnt about "photovoltaics" which is the energy that the sun produces.

I created a PowerPoint of my findings about solar power and how it works. In it contained lots of different facts about solar power and shows how solar energy is converted into electricity.

As I was researching I discovered and gained a better understanding because I found some diagrams which explained it really well and there was lots of interesting facts as well.

Some of the things I find incredible about Solar energy are your energy bills go down a lot and the electricity plant doesn’t  pay as much.

When we visited Techniquest science museum they also teach about solar power through a workshop that we took part in. They engage children by going over the basics to do with solar power and we then took part in making solar powered objects.

People might not know how vital solar power is to Space exploration.
