Year 5 Home Learning 2019 - 2020

Mr Frankland

Mr Frankland

I am passionate about teaching and learning. I firmly believe in ensuring that children have access to a broad curriculum that enables them to have rich learning experiences, making connections between subjects in a real-life context. I have taught across both Key Stages and enjoy them for entirely different reasons. When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family; my two little boys keep me very busy. We spend the majority of our time outdoors on adventures far and wide.

I am excited to be working with your children. It is important to me that every child feels included and supported (and has some fun along the way!).
I have three children and a large Labrador! There isn't a lot of spare time but when I can I enjoy reading, going for walks and I love to visit the Seaside!

To all in Year 5,

Thank you so much for all of your emails, photos and videos over the last week. It genuinely has been so nice to hear from you all.  The things that you all have been up to are quite simple breath-taking!  Well done to you all!

  • If any children need books changing then please just send me an email to let me know.  We can operate a drop-in and drop-off no contact book service (we can leave some books in a named plastic bag outside the main entrance and give you an allocated time to collect).  All we ask is that you return the books that you intially took home.

Please follow the link below to access Accelerated Reader in order to take quizzes at home.

If you have any difficulty in accessing this please email Mrs Woollam (, so that she can contact Renaissance and sort out any difficulties arising.

I hope that you are all well and keeping busy during your time at home. I will keep updating the home learning challenges each week (see the bottom of this website for the daily challenges).  Although I recommend completing the challenges in order and one a day, it is entirely up to you how or when you complete these challenges.  If you want some extra work then these websites below are fantastic:

Congratulations to all of you who have taking a renaissance quiz rececently.  Don't worry if the book you are reading at the moment or one you have finished isn't on renaissance, I just ask that you alternate so at least every other book is.  Also welll done to those children for spending such a great deal of time over the past week practising your times tables on TimesTables Rockstars.

Remember to be kind and stay positive. I am looking forward to when we all meet up again.

Finally, I would love to know what you are getting up to, what you are reading at the moment or how you have completed some of the challenges or your own projects. Please send me an email, the web address is below, if you can. If you send me a picture, then I'll display these on our class web page.

See you all soon!
